Another rally and another trip along some awesome roads in Wales. This time it was the Merfyn Hughes Memorial Rali Llyn which started in Pwhelli Marina. They’re always at night which makes taking some photos pretty hard. Below is one I took at the line up of the Merfyn Hughes Memorial Rali Llyn. I tried to use an HDRI technique based on the assumption that it was low light and I needed to use the tripod. What made is more complicated is the harsh one directional light – you either get white-out spots on the paint, or the car is in the shade.
This one is a Peugeot 205 GTI – registered in 1989 with 1.9l petrol engine. I can’t work out if it finished or not – looks like there were four 205 GTIs entered into the Merfyn Hughes Memorial Rali Llyn, but only 2 finished.
If you get a chance to go to the Merfyn Hughes Memorial Rali Llyn in the future, or any of the other rally events in Wales, wrap up warm, take some food and enjoy the spectacle. They’re usually from about 00:00h to 04:30, when there are no other cars on the road. At our passage control, it was so cold our water froze. But worth it.
