This is an HDR image of 1990 BMW 316 at the PK Memorial Rally, in North Wales.

BMW 316 is a very popular car in its time, with more than 2 million produced. The BMW 316 was a compact executive car produced by the German manufacturer BMW between 1968 and 1982. The body styles of the range included saloon (sedan), coupé, convertible and pick-up truck. There were also two three-door station wagon versions: the “Touring” and “Coupe”.

Compact Executive Car BMW 316

The BMW 316 was a compact executive car produced by the German manufacturer BMW between 1968 and 1982. It was based on their New Class sedan, which had been launched in 1966 as an attempt to compete with Mercedes-Benz’ successful W116 range of cars. The 316 replaced both the 1500-2 series and 2002 models, although it was positioned below these two models in terms of price and size while offering more equipment levels than either one.

The first generation (E10) featured single rectangular headlights (although some export markets received twin round lights). The E10 also had independent front suspension with McPherson struts, rear semi-trailing arms and coil springs over dampers at each wheel hub; anti-roll bars were fitted front and back for improved cornering stability at high speeds compared to most contemporaries from other manufacturers who used traditional MacPherson strut systems at that time due to cost reasons despite having better overall handling characteristics than double wishbone designs when combined with multi link rear suspension setups like those found on later versions

Rally Events Where You Can See the 1990 BMW 316 Rally Car

The Welsh Rallies happen up and down Wales for most of the winter months – they’re normally held at night and organised by local motor groups. You can get involved by contacting a local motor group. You can also help out at the events by Marshalling – see the Rally Marshalling Guide Here.

Example Rally

Here’s an example of me navigating at a Rally – this was also in North Wales, though we didn’t have any BMW Rally Cars competition against us, just a load of Ford Escort Mkii! This was taken at a Rally Marshall Navigation Point, so you can see you get to see the cars in action when you’re marshalling.
